Peachtree fix

This fix should enable you to run Appraise-It and Peachtree on the same computer provided that you do not run them at the same time and you run the appropriate batch file in step 4 before you run them; otherwise, Peachtree will corrupt your Appraise-It database files.

 

Steps 1-3 are done only once

1. Open Windows Explorer (Start-Programs-Windows Explorer)

a)      Click on VIEW and select DETAILS.  Also, make sure there is a check next to STATUS BAR under View.

i)        Click on VIEW and select OPTIONS (or Folder Options) at the bottom.

(1)   Click on the VIEW tab. 

(2)   Uncheck Hide File Extensions or MS DOS file extensions. 

(3)   Select SHOW ALL FILES

(4)   Click on OK

b)      Left click on your C drive

i)        Click file – new – folder

ii)       Type:  batch

iii)     Hit enter

2. Open Notepad (Start – Programs – Accessories – Notepad)

a)      Type the following. 

 

cd\windows\system

copy c:\peachw\wbtrcall.dll /y

cls

 

b)      Click File¾Save As

i)        Name it:  Peach.bat

ii)       Save in:  BATCH

iii)     Save as type:  ALL FILES

iv)     Click SAVE

v)    Change the above text to the following.  (Note, if Appraise-It is not installed on your C drive, modifications to the following batch file will be necessary.)

 

cd\windows\system

copy c:\tra\wbtrcall.dll /y

cls

c)      Click File – Save As (note click Save AS, not Save)

i)        Name it:  Tra.bat

ii)       Save in:  BATCH

iii)     Save as type:  ALL FILES

iv)     Click SAVE

v)      Close Notepad

3. Open Windows Explorer

a)      Double click on your C drive

b)      Double click the BATCH directory you created on your C drive

c)      On the right side of the screen, right click on Peach.bat

i)        Left click on Properties – Program – Advanced – Ms-Dos Mode

ii)       Make sure there is a check mark in Warn before entering ms-dos mode

iii)     Click ok, ok

iv)     Right click on your new Peach file in your batch directory that has the MS-DOS icon

v)      Left click Send to – Desktop (create short cut)

d)      On the right side of the screen, right click on Tra.bat

i)        Left click on Properties – Program – Advanced – Ms-Dos Mode

ii)       Make sure there is a check mark in Warn before entering ms-dos mode

iii)     Click ok, ok

iv)     Right click on your new Tra file in your batch directory that has the MS-DOS icon

v)      Left click Send to – Desktop (create short cut)

4. This step is optional, if you want to be given a warning reminding you to run TRA before you run Appraise-It, then do the following.  If not, then close Windows Explorer and proceed to step 5.

a)      Right click on Tra.bat in your Batch directory above

b)      Left click Edit

c)      Delete all the text in Notepad

d)      Type:

@echo Warning you must run TRA before you open Appraise-It.

@echo Hit CTRL-C to abort if you have not yet run TRA.

@pause

C:\tra\tra.exe

e)      Click File – Save As (note click Save AS, not Save)

i)        Name it:  Warning.bat

ii)       Save in:  BATCH

iii)     Save as type:  ALL FILES

iv)     Click SAVE

v)      Close Notepad

f)        Right click on Warning.bat

i)        Left click on Properties – Program – Close on Exit – OK

ii)       Close Windows Explorer

g)      On your Windows desktop, right click on your green Appraise-It icon.  (If you do not have one, you will need to create one.)

i)        Left click Short Cut tap

ii)       Change the target to:  C:\batch\warning.bat

iii)     Click Ok

 

 

 

 

 

Repeated Step

5. Whenever you want to run Peachtree after running Appraise-It or you want to run Appraise-It after running Peachtree, you will need to do the one of the following first. 

a)      If you have been running Peachtree and want to run Appraise-It,

i)        Close all running applications.

ii)       Double click on the MS-DOS TRA icon on your desktop.  (It will boot you out to Dos.) 

iii)     You should now be able to run Appraise-It. (If you have been running Peachtree and now want to run Appraise-It, it is absolutely essential that you do this step before running Appraise-It or Peachtree will corrupt Appraise-It!!!!!!!!!!!!  Appraise-It will not corrupt Peachtree, but Peachtree will corrupt Appraise-It so do no forget the above step.)

b)      If you have been running Appraise-It and want to run Peachtree,

i)        Close all running applications.

ii)       Double click on the MS-DOS Peach icon on your desktop.  (It will boot you out to Dos.) 

iii)     You should now be able to run Peachtree. (If you have been running Peachtree and now want to run Appraise-It, you do this step before running Peachtree or it will not run.)
