Printing Problems in Appraise-It

1. Ensure that your printer has enough RAM to support the program.

a)      Generally, 300dpi printers require 2MB;

b)      600dpi printers require at least 4MB.

c)      For a HP1600C, 6MB minimum is required.

2. In printer setup, make certain the page size is set to legal.

3. Check to see if your printer spool settings are set to RAW.  (Procedure in Windows 95/98)

a)      Click START; highlight SETTINGS, then choose PRINTERS.

b)      Highlight your printer, then go to FILE on the main menu.

c)      Choose PROPERTIES. Click the DETAILS tab.

d)      Click the SPOOL SETTINGS button.

e)      Click the drop-down arrow on the right of the SPOOL DATA FORMAT: field.

f)        Select the RAW option and click on OK.  Try and print.  If there is still a problem, continue to step #3.

4. In Appraise-It

a)      Open your report and go to File-Utilities-Printer Fonts.

b)      Select either Default or Alternate (whichever is the opposite of the one that is now selected).

c)      Try to print.

5. If you are printing photos or sketches, post them to Appraise-It and print from Appraise-It.

6. If there is still a problem, please let me know

a)      What printer you are using and what problems you are having?

b)      If you get an error message, we need at least three details.

i)        What exactly were you doing when you got the error.

ii)       How long have you had the error?  For example, did the error start after installing new software or moving to a new machine.

iii)      Rather than click IGNORE when you get an error message, click DETAILS.  If you do not see this option, click CLOSE.  You should have an opportunity to click DETAILS on the second error message.  We need the details (e.g., what happen and in what module).
