Text Problems

Text leaving Gaps or spilling over into Extended Comments or overlapping/crowded text

1.      If the problem unexplainably starts happening on all reports, click on Start-Search/Find-All Files and Folders and type: tra.ini

a.       Search for this file. Right click on the one in C:\Windows or WinNT and delete it.

b.      Then reinstall Appraise-It.

2.      Otherwise, this text typically happens in the Comments on Sale's Comparison.  The text runs to left on main form and leaves large gaps to right when printing, but it looks ok on screen.  It often occurs after making corrections to Extended comments.  It also happens in the ERC.

3.      For example, in an ERC after a spell check, the text in the last cell checked may spill over into extended comments.  If you click into another cell before printing, the text in that cell may spill over into extended comments.  So click in a cell that does not have any text before you print.  In that way, there is no text in the highlighted cell for the printer to kick into the extended comments.

4.      Likewise, if on page 2 of the USPAP. To resolve, just disable Auto Transfer on pg. 2 of the USPAP.

5.      Also, you may try hitting Ctrl+R before you print.

6.      Another possible solution is to click File-Utility-Change Printer Font and select the alternate or default printer font.  Select the opposite of what is currently selected.  It will appear that nothing has changed, but you need to print it to be sure.

7.      If it only happens when printing multiple copies, try deselecting Collate Copies in the print commander.

8.      In the 2075 it may be due to having your printer resolution set to low.  Click Start – Settings – Printers.  Right click on your printer icon, left click properties.  Find the section that determines your DPI and set it to at least 300dpi.

9.      If the problem is with a HP Laserjet 4/5/6 series printers.  Install the HP Laserjet IIIP print driver and use it to print to the current printer.

10.  Occasionally a problem has been experienced of the text being pushed to one side only allowing you to type on one side of the page. Try a different driver for your printer (at least in printer setup). For example, if you have been using Distiller, then in File–Printer Setup select another printer other than Distiller and click Ok.

11.  If none of these work, be certain to tell us what printer you are using and what problem you are having.  For example, does the form or addenda look correct on your screen but prints incorrectly, etc.
