When you put the file number in the upper
left corner (second field from the top), it will take 16 characters. Where you are experiencing the trouble is
when you save the report. It will take
the first 6 and add ~1 to make the file number 8 characters. What you need to do is save the file number
in this manner and then go into Windows Explorer and change the file number
before sending it to the VA. To do this,
follow the directions below.
The following steps are to only be done once.
1.
Go into
Windows Explorer (Start-Programs-Windows Explorer).
2.
On the
left side click on the C: drive so it is highlighted.
3.
On the
right side find the Tradata directory and double
click on it.
4.
On the
right side find the Data directory click on it one time so it is highlighted.
5.
Now
right click on the Data directory and select Send To -
Desktop (Create Shortcut).
6.
Close
out of Windows Explorer.
7.
You
should now notice a new icon on your desktop titled Shortcut to Data.
The following steps are to be done after you
have printed your report to PDF.
1.
On your
desktop double click on the icon Shortcut to Data
2.
Find the
file you have just printed to PDF and click on it one time. Remember there will be two files with the
same number. Make sure you select the PDF
file and not the RPT file.
3.
Once you
have the PDF file highlighted hit the F2 key on your keyboard.
4.
Change
the file name to the 16 digits the VA is requiring and hit the enter key.
Since all computers are set up differently,
you need to make sure of one thing. Before you change the file number notice if it shows the .PDF or
just shows the file number without the extension. If the file number is there with no
extension, then change the file number to the one the VA is requiring and hit
enter. Do not add the file
extension. If, however, before you
rename the file you do see the file extension (i.e. test.pdf),
then be sure when you rename the file you put the file extension back on.
5.
Now you
are ready to e-mail the report.
